HALLOWEEN FUN FACTS
-Most trace Halloween origins to the Celtic (Druid) celebration of Samhain (sow-win) which likely occurred around 2,000 years ago. The original period was from October 31 to November 1.
-It was believed that all barriers between our world and the spirit world were broken during this celebratory harvest time. To protect themselves from nefarious spirits, many Celts wore costumes which was the beginning of our costume tradition.
-The Celts carved turnips for use as lanterns. The pumpkin is a truly American version of this tradition.
